The QT2000 five seat full tilt crew carrying eVTOL, independently developed by Skydragon Aerotech (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Skydragon Aerotech), has completed its scheduled flight test missions. The aircraft delivered stable and controllable performance in vertical take off and landing, hovering, four directional maneuvering and heading tests, marking a complete success of its vertical flight trials.
This domestically built full tilt aircraft embodies the team’s 16 year R&D experience in tilt rotor vehicles. Boasting advantages including high safety, high speed, superior comfort, low noise, high efficiency and high payload ratio, it caters to high frequency public use scenarios such as urban commuting, inter city travel, cultural tourism sightseeing and emergency rescue. This achievement represents a critical milestone in the commercialization of China’s full tilt configuration electric aircraft for both passenger and cargo transport.
Full tilt configuration is widely recognized in the industry as the most technically challenging yet best performing eVTOL technical route. Nevertheless, it poses extremely high R&D barriers for tilt mechanisms, flight control systems and mode transition control, with only a handful of enterprises worldwide having achieved relevant technological breakthroughs.
Skydragon Aerotech’s core R&D team launched dedicated research on tilt rotor aircraft back in 2010, accumulating 16 years of continuous technological iteration. Led by experts in aircraft engineering from Beihang University, the founding team brings hands on experience in developing flight platforms for major national projects and holds multiple core patents for tilt rotor technologies. It is one of China’s rare R&D teams with end to end capabilities for forward design, engineering manufacturing and flight testing of full tilt aircraft.
Since the company’s establishment in August 2024, it leveraged its mature technical reserves to rapidly build the full size QT2000 prototype. The prototype rolled off the production line and completed flight tests in just over one year, setting a domestic speed record for the development and deployment of full tilt eVTOLs of the same class. The project has secured multiple industry first milestones in China: the earliest roll out of a full size, full weight full tilt prototype, the earliest tethered flight test completed by a domestic full tilt full weight prototype, and the maiden flight of China’s first full tilt full weight prototype.
With the continuous opening up of low altitude economy policies, three dimensional aerial mobility has emerged as a core track for new quality productive forces. The successful vertical flight trials of Skydragon Aerotech’s QT2000 full tilt eVTOL, backed by domestically developed, fully independent full tilt core technologies and multi scenario mobility solutions for the public, breaks the technological monopoly of high end overseas aircraft. It accelerates the popularization of cost effective civil aerial vehicles. The vision for ordinary people to “take an air taxi” for commutes and trips is steadily becoming reality. The Skydragon Aerotech team is carrying out comprehensive performance tests on the aircraft and is steadily advancing flight test validation for tilt mode transition.
